2008 Florida SuperCon Independent Film Festival Announces Call for Entries
Deadline May 1, 2008
Florida SuperCon (FSC) announces its call for film entries for the 2008 Florida SuperCon Independent Film Festival (FSCIFF), which will take place during the 2008 Florida SuperCon Multi-Genre Convention held May 23-25, 2008. Both short (films under 45 minutes) and feature-length films will be eligible. Film genres can be comic book, horror, sci-fi, fantasy and related subjects.
Deadline for entry to FSCIFF is May 1. Entry Fees: $25 short films, $35 feature length films; payable by money order or Google checkout only. More information and a link to downloadable submission forms can be found at: www.floridasupercon.com/FILMFESTIVAL.html .

Tuition Tales received over 250 video entries, which “were judged on their creativity, ability to move voters and how clearly and effectively they communicated the need for money for college.”
The Nguyens are trying to win $25,000 in college scholarship funds and they need your help. The Tuition Tales winner — and recipient of the scholarship — will be determined by online voting.
To vote:

2) Enter your email in the space provided and click SUBMIT
3) Fill out the little information they ask of you (bare minimum - AGE, ADDRESS, EMAIL, NAME) and click SUBMIT

The Education Channel in Tampa, Florida, is currently soliciting films, videos, animations and digital media from independent artists, producers and students in Florida and beyond for inclusion in its 2008 Independents’ Film Festival. In celebration of fifteen years of promoting engaging, quality moviemaking, the festival coordinators have announced a special pricing discount for Florida filmmakers this year. All Florida filmmakers will be able to enter for $20, while Florida students’ entry fee is $15.
All genres of film completed between March 2006 and May 2008 are welcome. Work must be submitted for review on DVD (NTSC) in English or with English subtitles by May 30, 2008. Premieres are strongly preferred.
The Education Channel will televise the Independents’ Film Festival in the fall with presentations throughout the month of September, culminating in a public event in early fall of the “best of” the festival. Web and flash films are also accepted for viewing on the website as part of the festival.
All entries are competitively judged in the professional, independent and student categories for the “best of” awards. Entry forms must accompany submissions and are available in a PDF format on the website at www.independentsfilmfest.com. Entries are also accepted through the withoutabox.com website.
The goal of the Independents’ Film Festival is to bring together educational, cultural and film enthusiasts to celebrate independent filmmaking, enhance the opportunities for the Florida filmmaker and increase the public’s awareness and support for Florida independent filmmakers as a cultural and economic asset through exhibition of the finest in contemporary cinematic artistry.

Sunscreen Film Fest Call For Entries
Well it’s that time again — the Sunscreen Film Festival has opened its call for entries. The 3rd annual festival is coming up on March 19-22, 2008. The submission period is September 1 to December 31, 2007.
We have some awesome stuff planned for this one. More panels and workshops. Including: distribution and finance with Hollywood distribution companies. Screenwriting workshop/panel with some names you’ll know but I can’t announce yet. Cool celeb guests that are great for indie filmmakers. An acting showcase and workshop with LA-based casting directors. And at least one film will get a guaranteed distribution offer from one of our attending distributors.
We’ve added an additional day and expanded our categories and awards.

Another festival season is upon us! We are now accepting submissions for our next festival held February 27 - March 2, 2008. You are our friends from 2007 and we hope that you consider us for the upcoming season!
We are returning this year bigger and better and providing our filmmakers a platform to screen their films in the great city of Tampa and have a great time doing so.
We are planning lots on the agenda for this year in the way of filmmaker panels, networking events with potential distributors and filmgoers and plenty of fun and sun in the best time of the year to be in Tampa.

FLORIDA FILM FESTIVAL CALL FOR ENTRIES
Now approaching its seventeenth exciting year, the Florida Film Festival seeks film submissions from filmmakers worldwide. The Festival, which will take place March 28 through April 6, 2008, is an annual event dedicated to showcasing the best American Independent and Foreign Films. It is also a qualifying festival for the Oscars in the category of live-action short films. Produced by Enzian Theater, the Florida Film Festival has become one of the most respected regional film events in the country.
To submit a film, visit the Festival website at www.FloridaFilmFestival.com. There are two ways to enter: 1.) register online through WithoutABox (www.withoutabox.com/login/1139), or 2.) print and mail the official entry form (www.floridafilmfestival.com/FFF2008.pdf). Members of WithoutABox receive a $5 discount when entering online.
The postmarked early deadline for Feature Film entries is October 26, 2007, and the late entry deadline for Features is November 30. The entry fee for Feature Length Films (41 minutes or longer) is $40.00. The postmarked early deadline for Short Film entries is October 12, 2007, and the late entry deadline for Shorts is November 16. The entry fee for Short Films is $25.00. Early submission to the Florida Film Festival is encouraged! There is a $20.00 late fee for films submitted after October 12th (shorts) and 26th (features). Films will not be accepted after November 30, 2007.

This year, there are 70 categories in which you can pick your local favorites. (Best Local Blog is a category again this year, hint, hint.) CL is asking everyone to choose locally-owned and operated nominees instead of mega-chains. (I own this blog myself, hint, hint.)

www.BobRossMovies.com is having an open casting call for guest hosts at Channelside Cinemas and IMAX on July 12 from 7-9 p.m. Be prepared to discuss and critique films and film news with Bob Ross in front of an audience that is “live to tape.”
There will also be tickets and prizes given away throughout the night. Tickets to an advanced screening of Sunshine will be given to the first 100 people. IMAX tickets and other prizes will also be handed out.

The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) is now accepting entries for its 22nd Annual Film Festival to be held October 19-November 11, 2007 at venues throughout Fort Lauderdale. World-wide travelers, media, film idustry representatives, plus over 100 filmmakers and celebrities from around the globe attend FLIFF’s film presentations, seminars and post-film parties and gatherings.

tampa bay on demand showing local indie films

Bay News 9’s Tampa Bay On Demand (Bright House Channel 340) is going to start showing local indy films in the next coming weeks. It will be a part of the YOU On Demand section under Short Films. They just need some films to be shown. Here are some of the rules and what they are looking for:
- Films must be 10 minutes or less.
- Must be on DVD or VHS format when submitting. (They will not send the DVDs or VHS copies back to you, so make sure you’re not sending your only copy.)
- CANNOT SHOW…films with adult language, violence, sexual content, nudity, adult themes, etc. Sorry, it’s television. But, if you want you, can edit your film for television and you can probably get in.
