Sisters of ‘77 celebrates the landmark meeting of feminists in Houston, Texas in November, 1977. Jimmy Carter had promised such a gathering when he ran for president. The event set the course for the women’s movement in the United States over the last 30 years. Watching this film will bring back poignant memories for those old enough to recall them. For those who are younger, Sisters of ‘77 will bring a new perspective to the way they view women’s history — and their own lives now and in the future.
Ten at the Top in Tampa Bay captures an unprecedented time in Tampa/Hillsborough County’s history for female, government leaders in positions traditionally held by men. Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio and HCC President Dr. Gwendolyn Stephenson are among the women in the film who offer sage advice as they share how they made it to the top. Producer/director Renee Warmack will be in attendance.
